Coaching and Counselling for Individuals and Families

A combination of coaching and counselling has been shown to have significant impact on individuals and families. Through our work together, you will build confidence in your abilities, gain an appreciation of your own potential, and be better equipped to face life’s challenges. In a warm and compassionate environment that is safe and confidential, I bring a flexible approach and diversity of experience to the counselling relationship.

A Little About Me

I spent over ten years working as a school social worker with students, teachers, and parents addressing the social, emotional and learning issues of children and adolescents. I am also a mother of five adult children.

In addition, I have a great deal of experience in non-profit education and community building. This experience has brought me unique insight into the challenging interpersonal struggles that many of us face – in families, social connections and work life.

Counselling families and raising my own has helped me to understand the complex relationship between parents and children, particularly once they reach the teen or adult years.  A breakdown in communication can lead to conflict, cutoffs, and estrangement.

Working with individuals in the context of community has given me a greater understanding of workplace dynamics.  Relationships, communication, group dynamics, and organizational culture can make a significant difference for a good working environment and successful work/life balance.

Currently in Private Practice, I use an eclectic style drawing on Attachment Theory, CBT, ACT (Acceptance and Commitment Therapy,) EFFT (Emotion Focused Family Therapy), and the work of Drs. John and Julie Gottman, as well as others. Through my professional training, background, life experiences, and commitment to high professional standards I am able to help individuals, couples, and families navigate the difficult challenges they face in their lives.

How I Can Help You

I offer individual, couples and family counselling. I work with adults and teens to build interpersonal skills, enhance communication, and develop greater self-awareness.  This leads to improved  emotion regulation, reduced stress and the ability to use practical tools for greater well-being.

I will work with you to develop a specifically designed program to address your unique needs and concerns.

I am available to meet with you online or in-person at my office in the west end of Ottawa just off the Queensway at Pinecrest.
